What is Auto Highlight?
Auto Highlight automatically highlights important content on article pages.
It addresses the issue of “excessively long texts that are hard to read quickly (tl;dr)” in a manner similar to an article summarizer.
Click the highlighter icon in the address bar to enable it; clicking multiple times will gradually expand the highlighted area, and the icon will dynamically change as the remaining “ink” diminishes.
Currently, an algorithm based on full-text term frequency statistics is used to identify important sentences; developers welcome users to submit examples of webpages where highlighting fails, so they can continuously refine the technology, and plan to integrate more advanced methods from extractive summarization research.
Key features
One-click multi-level smart highlighting: Simply click the highlighter icon in the address bar to activate it, and repeated clicks progressively expand the highlight range, with the icon providing real-time feedback on the available highlight intensity.
Purely local processing, zero data transmission: No user browsing data is collected or transmitted; all configurations are saved locally within the browser, fully complying with stringent privacy protection standards.
Use cases and audience
Readers, students, researchers, and anyone sensitive to efficient information processing who needs to quickly extract key content from web articles.

Frequently asked questions
Does this extension collect or upload my browsing data?
We do not collect or upload any user data; all settings are saved locally (as explicitly stated in our privacy policy).
What algorithm is used to generate the highlighting effect?
Currently, important sentences are selected based on a word-frequency statistical algorithm applied to the entire article. Developers welcome users to provide examples of pages where highlighting fails, so we can further optimize the algorithm.
